2020 BMW 5 Series vs. Mercedes E-Class

An Executive Sedan for Those in Charge in Bakersfield, California

Exceptionally poised, advanced, and sophisticated are three ways to describe the 2020 BMW 5 Series in Bakersfield, California. By providing uncompromising performance and innovative designs, this sedan is a competitor worth noting when contemplating the purchase of a new vehicle. We will compare it to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class to show you just how exceptional this machine is.

Command the Road with Immense Power

For the driver that strives to be in charge, the 5 Series offers driving dynamics to make each experience unforgettable. The awe-inspiring V-8 engine within the 5 Series will add a sport feel to your daily routine as the launch control utilizes engine electronics to hold RPM’s at their most efficient levels. As a result, you’ll have a stable, rapid acceleration that’s not found on the E-Class due to the lack of a launch control system. With this ability to balance the 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, nothing will get in the way of experiencing the thrilling ride within the 5 Series.

There's Nothing Typical About these Wheels and Tires

Numerous features attribute to the 5 Series’ performance, including the wheels and tires. For better handling and ride experience, this sedan offers optional 20-inch wheels (vs. Mercedes’ 19in.) and optional 245/35R20 front and 275/30R20 rear tires. Having this lower 35 series and 30 series profile provides a stiffer sidewall for optimal handling. The E-Class only offers an optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires. For peace of mind, the 5 Series also comes standard with run-flat tires, making it possible to travel 50 miles without having air pressure in the tires so that you won’t be stuck on the highway. This isn’t a standard feature on the E-Class, so it will most likely cost extra if available.

Multiple Systems to Keep You Safe

Continuing with the theme of safety, the 5 Series hosts PostCrash iBrake and Active Park Distance Control. The PostCrash system can automatically apply the brakes when in a collision, to help prevent secondary collisions if the driver is unable to react due to unconsciousness or airbag distraction. The E-Class Sedan doesn’t offer a post-collision braking system. The Active Park Distance Control helps the driver be more aware of their surroundings behind them by using rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes if something or someone is detected. Once more, the E-Class Sedan doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.
