2021 BMW X3 vs. Lexus RX Series

Passion Meets Performance in Bakersfield, CA

When passion meets performance, you’re left with the 2021 BMW X3 in Bakersfield, California. This BMW gives you the freedom to go wherever adventure leads. The rugged performance matched with its impressive visual presence satisfies those who seek exploration without compromising style. Unfortunately, the Lexus RX Series leaves much to be desired, but we are going to let you pass final judgement after reading today's comparison article.

No Risk, All Rewards

While the X3 and RX Series share a plethora of essential safety features like traction control, crash mitigating brakes, and blind-spot monitoring systems, the BMW outshines the Lexus Series with more advancements. Before a detected accident occurs, the X3’s front seatbelts will automatically tighten, providing more significant protection against injury. While the RX Series does offer seatbelt pretensioners for its driver and front passenger, they only activate during an accident, not before.

The X3 also comes standard with PostCrash iBrake, which will automatically apply the brakes to prevent secondary collisions in the event of a crash. If the vehicle continues to move after the airbags deploy, this could cause more damage to the vehicle and you because, as the driver, your vision would be compromised, and you would be unable to navigate the vehicle properly. This could happen if you drive the RX Series, due to its lack of a PostBrake system.

Unimaginable Design

Design elements like the sculpted kidney grille do more than showcase the X3’s style, as it also hosts electronically controlled shutters that close off airflow to reduce drag, which helps improve highway fuel economy. The X3’s construction also contributes to its efficiency, handling, and acceleration due to it being about 300 to 400 pounds lighter than the RX Series. The functional design of the X3 continues into the cabin with a much larger cargo area of 28.7 cubic feet versus the RX Series’ 16 cubic feet, and Parking Assistant Plus to automatically parallel park the BMW without any assistance from the driver. The RX Series does not offer an automated parking system making the risks of parallel parking higher in the Lexus model.
