2020 BMW X3 vs. Mercedes GLC

Discover Adventure in Bakersfield, California

Go beyond the call of adventure in the 2020 BMW X3 in Bakersfield, California. This Sports Activity Vehicle® brings all-terrain performance via BMW's dynamic drive-train. To put the X3 to the test we decided to compare its capabilities to the Mercedes GLC and here's what we found.

Crafted to Explore

The X3 is a born explorer, with versatile features and elevated systems to push you to the next level in performance, luxury, and adventure. The sport agility of this BMW gives you the freedom to explore however you please with 248 horsepower from the standard 2.0 turbo four-cylinder engine, which is seven more than what the GLC can offer. This power is balanced in the X3 due to the front and rear weight distribution being more even than the GLC’s (50.4% to 49.6% versus 53% to 47%) for more stable handling and braking. If you feel the urge to travel off-road, the X3 is more capable of appeasing your spirit by having a 3 inch greater minimum ground clearance than the GLC, allowing the SAV to travel over rougher terrain without the fear of being damaged.

Stylish and Spacious

The versatile X3 will make every trip or excursion more doable with its multiple storage configurations and options. With a much larger cargo volume with the rear seat up than the GLC (28.7 vs. 19.4 cubic feet), the X3 can carry whatever you desire. If you wish to expand the cargo area for more, the 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats will come in handy, further expanding the space to 62.7 cubic feet. That’s still larger than the GLC’s 56.5. If what you need to bring along can’t possibly fit in the cargo area, the X3 has the option of towing with a standard maximum towing capability of 4,400 pounds (vs. 3,500lbs).

Be Bold When Exploring

While the X3 has thus far proven to be the perfect companion for your next excursion, it’s also important to note how much safer it is than the GLC. If you find yourself descending on a steep slope when traveling off-road, the X3’s standard Hill Descent Control will help you creep down slowly and safely. And to ensure that you’re protected when backing up, the X3 offers a cross-path warning system that will alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side. The GLC doesn’t provide either of these safety features, which can be extremely inconvenient when traveling.
